Chilly and Sunny

Tina and Greg serve our little pet pals. We were not sure what we would do after we lost Bobo so suddenly, but as J.C. got to the end of his time we had Chilly and Sunny show up out of the blue. They helped fill the huge void we had after J.C. passed. We work hard and love to travel as much as we can.

Utah, we miss you so much. Our photo above is at Dead Horse Point.

Of course, over time, some of our pals have moved on. I (Greg) had a cat in college in Auburn named Phideaux, but he did not live long. He was young and wild and crossed the road one too many times. I got Rascal shortly after that, and he was my first real pet. After a couple of years, I got Fats somehow, and the two of them were pretty good pals. I moved to Atlanta, and right after I got there Fats got sick. He ended up having Feline Leukemia and had to be put to sleep. The vet told me to bring in Rascal and that he probably had it too. He did not. They were surprised about that actually. Rascal was something else, like a Superkitty. I met Tina, and we ended up with three litters of kittens over time. She also had Spike, a funny little mutt dog. We gave most of the kittens away, but kept Bart from the first litter. We ended up with Homey and Tigger from a second litter. We are softies and we found a kitten at a service station and took it home. That was Sooner, a little girl kitty. Little did we know, but Homey and Sooner were both at the age where they could have kitty fun. She became pregnant and had a litter with Bubba in it. We ended up having to take Sooner to the pound unfortunately because she was so much of a wild cat that we could just not get it out of her. She continuously dumped the trash over and was just too wild. We got them all fixed right as we saw her pregnant. Five cats and one dog.

We moved around a good bit over time and ended up in Atlanta again. We lost Spike one day, we think from a heart attack. We could not live without a puppy around and J.C. found us at a pet rescue volunteer event we were helping with. What a great thing that was for all of us. The cats got used to him quickly, and he has been a good cat herder. Rascal fell to old age after a while. He was a good friend to me. We then lost Bart and Tigger a year apart while out of town, which really hurt us. It was tough not being there with them when they passed. Homey finally lost his battle with kidney and thyroid problems. We were with him at least. Then Bobo found us, and Bubba became used to him. They were not true pals, but were tolerant of each other. Bobo really liked J.C. though, and they actually chased each other around the yard. We finally lost Bubba as he was almost 20 years old. We were there with him also. We lost Bobo to a very bad set of circumstances that shook Tina and me. It was hard to take and is hard to talk about. He was only three years old. He was an indoor/outdoor cat, and bad things can happen suddenly. On reflection, we felt he was one of the best cats we ever had. That made it harder since he was such a great pal.

We were down to just J.C. It wasn't the same for us and frankly for J.C. either. He has been around cats for his whole life. He looked for Bobo for weeks. Despite not wanting another cat, Bobo changed that for us.

Suddenly we started noticing a few stray cats around the neighborhood. There was a mother cat and four kittens hanging around our house and going up and down the neighborhood. I saw it go down to three, then two, then only one kitten with the mom. It was getting colder with an 11 degree night coming. We took a small tote and cut a hole in it and put an old blanket inside. We also put some food out. They took shelter in there and we wanted to see if we could bring them in. The mom cat never let us touch her. She was aggressive toward the kitten with food too. We ended up trapping her and taking her to the pound. We kept feeding the kitten and eventually got it used to J.C. We finally got him and took him to the vet. He checked out OK and we got his shots and chipped him. I wanted to name him Chilly for the cold. He became Chillie Nelson because Tina thought it was funny. Heh. He has been working on becoming a house cat and loves his safety of home.

Six months later, another small cat showed up. We saw it around and it would come to the backyard and go between the fences so J.C. could not get to it. It ended up climbing one of the trees next to the fence and would sit up on a limb and look down at J.C. The kitten saw Chilly down in the yard with J.C. and eventually came down in the yard and started letting J.C. approach. It was a little girl kitten about five or six months old. We eventually grabbed her too and got her to the vet. She also checked out OK and so she got her shots and also got chipped. She is Sunshine, better know as Baby Girl or just Kitty. She is a sweetheart and loves her boyfriend Chilly. J.C. got along with both of them and they were a great group up until J.C. passed away. Having them around made it much easier to deal with loosing J.C. The two cats get along great and keep us company.

We miss our old friends, and their pages show better days with them.
